宮島訪問。フェリーで本土から片道10分。
Visiting Miya-jima. About 10-minute ferry ride from the mainland.
潮が引くと大鳥居の真下まで歩いて行けます。60トンの
大鳥居の基盤は海底にどっしりと備え付けられているのではなく：
"根元は海中に置かれているだけで、自重で立っています。主柱の基礎は、
千本杭［せんぼんくい］が用いられ、45cmから60cmの松杭がそれぞれの
柱に約30本から100本打ち込まれています。"

海中に置かれているだけの世界遺産というのはかなり珍しいのではないかと。
When the tide is out, you can walk to the Great Miyajima Torii (gateway to shinto
shrine). The foundation of the 60-ton gateway isn’t fixed at the bottom of the sea. ‘The
base of the great Torii is not buried deep in the seabed, but stands by its own weight’.

シカが人慣れしすぎてゆっくり昼ごはんが食べられません。
Deer were so unafraid of humans that we couldn't relax while having lunch.
炎天下の山登り。
Climbing up the mountain under the scorching sun.
神社が掌に載ります。

ここではろうそくに名前を書いて点灯、ご祈祷。
Write your name on a candle, light it, and pray.
降ります。
Going down.
十二支のお地蔵さん、息子は虎、

鐘をついて、
Rang the bell
降り切った。
Finally down.
ご飯の後は海岸に座って花火を待つのみ。
After dinner, sat on the beach, waiting for the fireworks to start.
クルーズも満杯。
The boat was full, too.
