From Kyoto to Osaka. A short visit to a shrine before meeting my friends.
The blazing hot weather makes the road a roasting pan. Saved by a cool breeze under
leafy trees. "This is just how we like it," the cicadas sing and the butterflies dance.
Although it is about midday, there are quite a few visitors too.
At the back, in deeper shade, there is Inari Shrine. On the right, there is a little opening
for visitors to take a break on small outdoor chairs.
Small but distinguished Horikoshi Shrine, situated in Osaka City.
Lunch at Cafe & Meal Muji.
The lunch set includes one choice of cold dish and two choices of warm dish. My
choice is tofu (that I missed last time), lever and Thai flavoured vermicelli salad,
along with bread and corn soup. On top of the set, a glass of freshly squeezed
apple juice that I couldn't resist. Everything was simply delicious.
After a good meal, sightseeing is in due course. However, Osaka Castle would have
been just too hot and the course is altered to indoor sightseeing.
A little bit of outside air. This is the busiest city in Kansai area,
concrete jungle as far as I can see.
TIMES included this Umeda Sky Building in a list of 'the top 20 building around the
world' in 2008. The floating observatory part was constructed on the ground,
then lifted up by wires, which took hours to complete.
10 minutes walk from Tennoji Station to tonight's accommodation. Gentle slope, easy
walk in to the front counter. After a smooth check in, going up
to my room with my card key and PIN number.
You need to take your shoes off in this room. Sit-and-relax carpeted space
and a big bed on the other side.
There is onsen at this hotel. This hot spring is said to be the favourite of Lord Toyotomi,
one of the most famous pre-Edo-era lord. There is only one bathing facility,
so male and female take turns. How does this work? The door lock has PIN
number and it changes according to the schedule. Women get the
number for our allocated time, and men theirs.
Here is the photo of the bath. Small but full of character.
Free healthy breakfast is included the next morning,
what a bargain.
