Start of Hiroshima School Life

School commute started. The first bus we took runs only once an hour or so.

Workers and students, all use this bus service.

Just a bit of observation. There is a primary school at the bottom of the long downhill. A lot of primary school pupils use this bus service. It is quite an ordeal if you happen to share a bus with them. It becomes a school bus. And I am afraid the pupils' manners are not the greatest. They wait in a line, holding the backpack of the one in front, board the bus like one centipede. They seem to think that they have every right to board first. No exception, not even the elderlies. Same story on the way back. Once, I got on the bus from the station with bags full of shopping and took a seat. Pupils boarded the bus from the school bus stop. One pupil stood next to me and said this aloud. "Oh boy, I don't have a seat today. I need to stay on my feel all the way home." On the contrary, junior high school students behave admiringly. They give seats to primary kids. I wonder if those kids will change when they start going to junior high.

Now, the school my kids went to.

In Japan, you change to indoor shoes to go into the classrooms.

And, yes, Japanese kids do play basketball.

At the school hall. My daughter was kind of thrown into a choir.

She did her best to go along with unfamiliar Japanese songs.

The next is a concert. My daughter played a triangle, my son a guitar.

They both started the school in the middle of the term,

and didn't have much time to practice.

Despite their disadvantages, they managed to have some fun.
