市街地の深い霧を抜けると知床峠に続く道は晴れ。
Out of deep fog in town, the sky cleared on the way to Shiretoko Pass. Mt. Rausudake,
the highest of the Shiretoko mountain range, showed its magnificent peak.
知床八景、その七、知床峠（の駐車場）。ここまで車で送ってもらいました。
8 must-visit places in Shiretoko, No. 7, Shiretoko Pass (the parking lot).
We got dropped off here, with our bikes.
最高地点はもう少し先です。
The highest point is a little bit further up.
ここが峠頂上部、標高738m。
This is the highest point of the pass, 738-m above sea level.
反対側の羅臼町も深い霧に覆われています。
Rausu town on the other side of the pass was also blanketed by deep fog.
後はひたすら降ります。
Now, started to roll down.
すぐに標高334m。
334-m above sea level, in no time.
羅臼岳の背が伸びたみたい。
Looks like Mt. Rausudake has grown up.

We stopped often, to see dear, eat wildberries, and much more.

Deep fog still persisted in the town.
霞んだ空の下には澄み切った海。
Crystal clear water under misty sky.
カラスはどこまで見渡せるのやら。
Wonder how far a crow can see.

早めのお昼は前々から気になっていた海鮮丼。
Early lunch was seafood on rice, looking forward to this for some time.
本日は、雲丹、イクラ、鮭、鰤、鰈、牡丹海老と千金螺貝。と、わざと
漢字で書きましたが、イクラだけはロシア語語源なので漢字がないそうです。
The seafood of the day includes sea urchin, salmon roe, salmon, yellowtail, flounder,
shrimp and whelk. Can you match the names with the picture?
大根と豆入りすまし汁付き。
Comes with radish and pea clear soup.
カウンターのスツールも好みです。
I love these stools.
美味しかったです。しっかり完食いたしました。
すぐに行列のできる道の駅うとろ・シリエトクのレストランでした。
That was totally delicious. No problem finishing the whole set.

腹ごしらえの後は、延長レンタルした自転車で平地サイクリング。
まずは三段の滝まで4.4km。
After a hearty lunch, flat-land cycling with my rental bicycle.

滝は涼しげに見えますが、みているこちらは木陰のない橋の上。
すっかり霧は晴れて、容赦ない日差しのもと、結構な暑さでした。
The fall did look cool, but I was on the bridge without any shade.
The fog cleared completely, and the sun was beating down mercilessly.
Simply put, it was rather hot.
次はさらに海岸沿いに2.1km、知床八景、その一、オシンコシンの滝。
Next, along the coast for 2.1-km more, 8 must-visit places in Shiretoko,
No. 1, Oshinkoshin Falls.
ここは立派なバスの駐車場とお土産物屋さんもあり、観光客でいっぱいでした。
With generous bus parking and a souvenir shop,
there were many tourists hanging around.
知床八景二箇所制覇した充実した一日でした。
A truly satisfying day with two of 8-must-visit checked off.
