北海道に別れを告げ、どんより雲の下、津軽海峡を渡りました。
Farewell Hokkaido. I crossed Tsugaru Strait under heavy clouds.
ビューシートという指定席を予約したらとても快適でした。個人用の
リクラインニングシートがあり、そこからゆったりと前方の海を眺められます。
3時間40分揺れもせず、前半はぐっすり眠り込んでしまいました。
I reserved a View Seat, and it was comfortable. You have your own reclining
seat, looking out to the sea in front. During the quiet 3-hour-40-minute
journey, I slept really well for more than half of it.
青森に着くとなんと雪が……
When I arrived in Aomori (the northern top area
of Japanese mainland), the snow….
どんどん降りが強くなって……
started to fall and on it went, more and more…
気軽な森林歩道ハイキングのはずだったのですけど。
This was supposed to be a light bush walking.
とりあえず目的地に着きました。樹齢700歳の赤松。
I arrived my destination. Japanese red pine, 700-year-old.
貫禄。
So majestic.
結構積もりました。でも愛用ドック
マーティンは雪でも歩けることがわかりました。
It did snow quite a bit. But I found out that my beloved
Doc Martin could deal with snow no problem.
今日お会いしたのは「森の巨人たち100選」の
うちの一本、馬場山アカマツ巨樹でした。
The tree I went to see was one of the 100 forest giants of Japan,
Giant Japanese Red Pine of Mt. Baba, estimated age 700,
hight 28 m, trunk circumference 6.60 m.
下山してから気がついたこと。熊注意。
After I finished hiking, found a warning “Beware of bears.”
雪雲は去り、本州最北から垣間見えた夕暮れ。
Snow clouds moved away, and evening twilight seeped through
the horizon in the northernmost area of the Japanese mainland.
場所は浅虫温泉。もちろん温泉にもつかってきました。
At Asamushi Onsen (hot spring). Of course, I tried the onsen there too.
It takes about 20 minutes from Aomori Station to Asamushi
Onsen Station, by a cute line called “Blue Forest Train.”
