八丈富士登山口
At the start of Mt. Hachijo Fuji Trail.
The mountain is 854m high.
階段の始まり。
The beginning of the long stairway.
階段は続くよ、どこまでも。
The steps go up and up, on and on.
中間地点640段。もう半分、か、まだ半分、か。
Midpoint, 640 steps. Half way already :)!
or still half way, :(??? Which way would you feel?
手すりのある箇所もちらほら。助かります。底土港がおもちゃのように見えます。
Some parts offer railings. This helps a lot. Sokodo Port looked like a miniature model.
階段の終わりの分岐点到着。休憩をたくさんとったので、登山口④から1時間。
A junction at the end of the stairway. I took lots of break and it took me
about one hour from the starting point ④.
ここまでで825m.
At the height of 825m.
神社へ降りる道はいきなりジャングル。草ぼうぼうで足元が見えづらいので要注意。
Dense bush covers the descending shrine trail.
You need to pay extra attention to where you step.
もう一つの道標。悪路なので左には行けません。
Another sign post. The road to the left leads to a danger zone and no entree.
道は見えるようになります。ジャングル探検隊の気分。
The trail gets better after awhile. I feel like an explorer in a jungle.
木の下をくぐって、
Ducking under a tree,
大きな岩をよじ登ったり、
climbing up huge boulders,
ずり下りたり。
or sliding down.
湿原上の板橋を渡ったり、
and crossing a wetland on wooden platforms.
苔むした大岩に遭遇。
An encounter with a moss-covered ancient-looking big boulder.
そして木々の間に鳥居がちらりと。
And a glimpse of the shrine gateway amongst the trees.
願いを書いた石を麓から持って来てお供え。
大きければ大きいほどご利益も大きいとか。着いてから
思い出したので私は石なし。大小色とりどりの願いで鳥居の足元が華やか。
People bring the stones with their wish written on them. The bigger, the better.
I forgot about this, thus no stone for me. Colorful stones with various sizes
radiate hopes and wishes from the foot of the gateway.
神社の後ろから火山口の小さな方を覗き込めます。
At the back of the shrine, you can look down into the part of the crater
(this is the smaller part).
高校野球優勝決定戦を観戦後、底土へ
最後の素潜り。今日の出会いは尻尾のおしゃれなヤガラ。
After watching the final match of the summer high school baseball tournament,
paid the last visit to Sokodo Beach. An encounter of the day,
a cornet fish with a stylish tail.
そして亀、:) まだ台風の影響で結構揺られます。
And a turtle. Still under the influence of typhoons,
underwater creatures got swayed and rocked.
水面は結構穏やかでしたが。
